BASICOM is a computer literacy course that discusses the basic function and use of a computer system, by means of utilizing productivity software applications like Microsoft Office, OpenOffice, iLife suite, up to designing their first website by means of Macromedia DreamWeaver. The course also tackles issues surrounding licensed and free softwares, especially Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, and MacOS). The course is a computer literacy course that builds on students’ prior knowledge in working with operating systems and productivity software applications, such as Microsoft Windows, Office, OpenOffice, Linux, MacOS, iLife suite, Macromedia DreamWeaver, and Basic HTML or website creation. This course serves as a foundation course for higher multimedia courses such as: graphic design, web design, video editing, and animation.
